Buffalo-Niagara Professional Photographers' Society of New York State, inc.
Buffalo-Niagara is one of eleven local sections of the PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS' SOCIETY OF NEW YORK STATE, INC. - PPSNYS - an association formed to instruct its members and the general public in photography, and to create, foster, promote and encourage the exchange of knowledge among its members and the public. We are affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America (PPA).
Buffalo-Niagara was formed in 1907 for the purpose of educating both the professional photographer and the public, and as means for its members to exchange knowledge, experiences and opinions.
Buffalo-Niagara is dedicated to the advancement of photography both as a science and an art. Its members develop and encourage the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, business practices, and customer relations.
Buffalo-Niagara broadens the public understanding of the value of professional photography.
Buffalo-Niagara members attend monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of each month. These meetings usually consist of a print competition, dinner, and speaker program. The speaker topics are varied and the meetings provide a frequent and excellent means of learning something new. The meetings also provide camaraderie and a great opportunity to share ideas and interesting items with fellow members and to keep abreast of the latest methods and technology.
Buffalo-Niagara arranges a Talent Exchange Program (TEP) each year. The TEP is a full day seminar and print competition and is open to any professional photographer who wishes to attend. The speakers chosen are of high caliber and present more detailed information than can be covered at a regular monthly evening program.
Buffalo-Niagara members also may attend an Annual State Conference and Regional Print Competition to hear nationally and internationally known speakers, network with others in the same field, share ideas and experiences, and form enduring friendships with others who share a common love – photography. Members may submit their prints for judging and receive merits for excellence in specific fields.
Buffalo-Niagara members also may attend PPSNYS Workshop, an annual weeklong educational workshop providing intensive learning with an instructor of their choice. This allows members to learn a particular aspect of photography including fine details and in-depth knowledge.
All of this education and experience combines to make the members of Buffalo-Niagara stay up to date in their profession, provide the general public with the best photographic knowledge and skills, and maintain high standards of service and conduct.
